The USA, which flies on thousands of flights in one day, came to a halt on Wednesday morning at 9 AM because of a technical glitch in the computers. According to Flight Aware, a flight-tracking website, the USA’s 6000 domestic flights were affected because of the same, and a 1000 were cancelled. The Federal Aviation Administration said that the problem occurred with a malfunction in NOTAM. Nevertheless, the system started working on a basic level later on.
NOTAM (Notice to Air Missions System) works in the USA for flight operations, with which real-time safety alerts are sent to the pilots. On Wednesday, NOTAM stopped giving the updates. NOTAM provides information like a runway being open or closed, warnings of bird hazards, and construction obstructions. White House Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre refused this being a cyber-attack.
