Hubballi: Union Minister for Coal, Mines, and Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi has announced that, effective from 2025, India will stop importing coal from abroad since the annual domestic production has now reached 1000 million metric tonnes from the previous total of 562 million metric tonnes a year.

Inaugurating an event organised by the local unit of the BJP Saturday night here to celebrate the nine years of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, Joshi said due to the Modi Government’s policy of achieving self-sufficiency, coal production has now reached 1,000 million metric tonnes per year. As a result, the import of coal from other countries will be completely stopped by 2025, he said.

Moreover, with the continuous supply of coal to the thermal plants, there is uninterrupted production of electricity in the country now.

Perhaps this is one of the reasons that prompted the Congress government in Karnataka to promise to provide 200 units of free electricity to the consumers in the state, he claimed.

Joshi said the successful implementation of various developmental policies such as Make in India and Aatma Nirbhar Bharat and other schemes implemented by the Modi Government during the last nine years has driven the nation to advance with giant steps towards becoming the world’s third largest economyby the end of 2028-2029.

The Union Minister further said that to provide more employment, revolutionary measures were taken by the Modi government by training crores of youths in the country in skill development in different fields to meet the job requirements in industrial and several other areas to enable India to come out as one of the world’s most important industrial production hubs.
