New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday urged the people voting in the first phase of the Lok Sabha election to come out in large numbers and vote for the country’s development, security, unity, and sovereignty.

In a series of posts on social media, Shah, while appealing to the people of Arunachal Pradesh, said, “Arunachal Pradesh is going to host voting for the assembly election and the first phase of the Lok Sabha election today. I appeal to the people to choose a government that will speed up the state’s development and ensure the nation’s unity and sovereignty.”.

He also urged the people of Sikkim to vote for a government that will make the state economically strong and address the issue of people.

“Sikkim is going to vote in the first phase of the Lok Sabha election while simultaneously holding the assembly election today. I appeal to the people to vote for a government that will be committed to making the state economically stronger and to building better social and physical infrastructure to address the issues of the people,” the Home Minister said.

Shah also appealed to the people of Mizoram, Meghalaya, Manipur, and Nagaland to come out in large numbers and vote for a government committed to peace.

“Even as Mizoram, Meghalaya, Manipur, and Nagaland go to the polls in the first phase of the Lok Sabha election today, I appeal to our sisters and brothers of these states to turn out in large numbers and vote for a government committed to peace, infrastructure, and human resource development in the Northeast,” he added.
