Motormouth Maulana Sajid Rashidi still at large: Is ‘Freedom of Speech’ a blatant weapon against Hinduism?

Key Takeaways

  • Making blasphemous comments against Hinduism can lead to severe consequences, including social ostracism and legal action.
  • The concept of secularism in India aims to promote tolerance and understanding among different religious communities, but it has been criticized for being one-sided and favoring minority communities.
  • The Ganga-Yamuna Tehzeeb is a concept that promotes tolerance and understanding among different religious communities in India, but it has been criticized for being one-sided and favoring minority communities.

The video of an Islamic cleric, Mohammed Sajid Rashidi, wherein he can be seen making utterly distasteful and obnoxious remarks against the Hindu community and their beliefs, is doing the rounds on social media for a couple of days now. Rashidi’s outrageous comments against Hindus and our Goddess was made during a panel discussion on Times Now Navbharat, on Thursday, October 10, during the Navratri season.

‘You Hindus rape the one that you call Devi’, the blasphemer Rashidi was heard saying on national television.

It has been almost a week that the loose mouthed Maulana dared to utter such blasphemous words against the Hindu community and their Goddess, with sexual undertones, but no legal action has been taken against Rashidi. It has been proven time and again that in India, members of the minority community can make blasphemous comments against the majority religion and its faith without facing any consequences. For instance, Maulana Sajid Rashidi made outrageous comments against Hindus and their Goddess, but no legal action has been taken against him. Here too, the bigoted Maulana could easily get away after making such disgusting comments, that too on national television, about our beloved and revered Devi.

As always, the poster boys and girls of ‘secularism’ and ‘Ganga-Yamuna Tehzeeb’ are nowhere to be seen, let alone condemnation of the Maulana coming from their side. At this point, let us just imagine, for a millisecond, if a Hindu had made a comment against Prophet Muhammad or any other respected Islamic figure. What happens the very moment we picture something like this? The horrific echoes of ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ start ringing in our ears.

Afterall, Kanhaiyalal was killed just because he supported Nupur Sharma, who, still cannot come out of her house without a threat on her life after she stated nothing but facts about Prophet Muhammad and his life, already mentioned in Islamic scriptures; and Gopal Mishra was murdered because he simply removed an Islamic flag.

On the other hand, while Maulana Rashidi is still roaming freely, innumerable other people from the ‘Dara Hua Musalman’ community could crack jokes on or make blasphemous comments against Hindus and their Dharma, for instance comedian Munawar Farooqui, who made fun of the Kar Sevaks who were burnt alive by Muslims in Godhra in the year 2002, and cracked disturbing jokes on Prabhu Shri Ram and Mata Sita.

Why is it that tolerance and ‘freedom of speech’ in this country are merely one-way streets wherein the Hindus have to tolerate quietly the blasphemy against their religion, along with having zero freedom of speech for their own selves?

Hindus do not have to, and should not tolerate, even the slightest of disrespect to their religion and deities. It is high time that it was made understood to everyone that it is NOT OKAY to disrespect Hindus, sitting in the very land of Hindus.
