Assets like houses, TV can get costlier, reveals RBI survey

Even though the people living across the major cities of the country have been believing that after November, the costs of essential commodities have gone down, they are also doubtful of the fact that in the next three months, inflation can increase once again. The most doubted is the rates of houses going up, along with people expecting that after three months, higher prices will also have to be paid for commodities of domestic requirements like TV, fridge, and washing machines.

Along with this, the rates of services like buses, trains, and taxis, and internet services can also increase. These points have been revealed through the RBI’s Inflation Index Survey of House-hold (IISH). 49.7% women were involved in the survey. Now, the inflation-index in the cities has reduced by 0.20% and is at 9.6%. RBI makes the index by taking 10 points as the basis of the opinion poll.

On the other hand, another startling fact has come to the fore through the survey. People below the age of 25 think that there is no inflation at all, and rates will come down too, while people aged above 45 years are expecting a hike in rates. People from 12 cities believe that the inflation rate is less, but in 5 cities including Bhopal, people who believe that retail inflation has gone up in January, are more.

In January 2022, 89.6% of the people believed that inflation will increase, and now, the people who believe this have come down to 84.3%. At the same time, those who thought that the prices of services will go up have come down from 82% to 71.7%.
