Washington: US President Joe Biden held a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during which he welcomed the release of two more hostages from Gaza and noted the need to maintain a continuous flow of humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip, the White House said on Tuesday.

“The President welcomed the release of two additional hostages from Gaza earlier today, and reaffirmed his commitment to ongoing efforts to secure the release of all the remaining hostages taken by Hamas – including Americans … The President also underscored the need to sustain a continuous flow of urgently needed humanitarian assistance into Gaza,” the White House said in a statement.

In addition, Biden briefed Netanyahu on Washington’s support for Israel and ongoing regional deterrence efforts, the statement read, adding that they agreed to talk again in the coming days.
