With the increase of political activity in the state of Bihar during the last few months, secret agencies have received the inputs of an increase in the activity of Naxals as well. As per sources, the cases of Naxals receiving funds from unknown sources have also hiked, and with these inputs, security agencies have become more aware. It is being assumed that some political faces can be related to this, and in order to gain political leverage, they are funding the Naxal movement in a covert manner.

The security agencies are now probing into this angle and attempts at stopping this unknown funding made towards the Naxal movement have begun. As per sources, the NIA had arrested an active member of the banned outfit CPI’s central committee, Vijay Kumar, and his accomplice, Umesh Upadhyaya, from Bihar in the month of April, for promoting the Naxal movement.  The central agency had then interrogated both the culprits and found out that the CPI had started its movement in the Gaya and Rohtas districts of Bihar to recruit new members, and here, Vijay Kumar was given the related responsibilities.

Vijay was using the CPI’s ideology to make poor people join the movement. Other people were given similar responsibilities in other districts of the state, for which they were provided with handsome funds from unknown sources. Vijay used such kind of fundings to get the CPI’s pamphlets printed and in order to train the new members. The investigative agencies are now trying to track the source of these fundings.

Apart from this, the CPI is also exacting money through extortions and ransom, and therefore, the security agencies are keeping an eye on the suspects keeping in mind this angle as well, so that the fundings made towards the Naxal movement can be curbed.
