G7 Summit: PM Modi outlines 10-point call to action to address food, health, development issues

New Delhi/Hiroshima: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking a G7 Summit session in Hiroshima on Saturday, outlined 10 points to address food, health and development related issues plaguing the world, and called for adopting millets as a path to nutritional and environmental benefits, stopping of food wastage and depoliticising of the global fertiliser supply chains.

PM Modi in a tweet said it is important for the world to work together for the betterment of the planet and address the common challenges relating to healthcare, wellness, food security among others.

“Shared my thoughts at the session on ‘Working Together to Address Multiple Crisis’. It is important for us to work together for the betterment of our planet and to address the challenges we face relating to sectors such as healthcare, wellness food security and more.”

The MEA spokesperson said that in his address at a G7 session on ‘Working Together to Address Multiple Crisis’, the PM gave a 10 point call to action to address food, health and development related issues plaguing the world:

– Develop inclusive food systems that protect the most vulnerable, including marginal farmers

– Adopt millets: path to nutritional and environmental benefits

– Stop food wastage to strengthen food security

– Depoliticise global fertiliser supply chains

– Develop alternative model to fertilisers

– Develop resilient healthcare systems

– Promote holistic healthcare; pursue traditional systems of medicine

– Promote digital health to ensure global universal health coverage

– Ensure mobility of healthcare professionals

– Build development models inspired by needs of developing countries; not driven by consumerism.
