Indians’ savings increase by 9.8% in a year

After the COVID-19 period came to an end, people got involved in strengthening their saving accounts. As per RBI’s latest statistics, between 1st October 2021 and 30th September 2022, the total amount deposited in Indian banks went up to 174.97 lakh crore Rupees, which was 159.40 lakh crore Rupees on September 30th, 2021, which shows a growth of 9.8% in a year.

Back in 2020, the deposited amount in banks had reduced, and with the decrease in the COVID-19 cases, the situation turned topsy-turvy, and the amount in banks started going up once again, with the deposit base increasing in all the states. In 6 states, more than 10% of increase was reported. The highest growth was recorded in Maharashtra at 13.2%, followed by Rajasthan at the second spot with 12.5% growth. Both Assam and Chhattisgarh recorded a growth of 11.0%, followed by Haryana at 10.4%, and Punjab at 9.8%.

On the other hand, the lowest growth was seen in Kerala at 4.2%, Madhya Pradesh at 5.8%, Chandigarh at 6.8%, Jammu-Kashmir at 7.0%, Bihar at 8.5%, and UP at 8.6%. Speaking of cities, the highest growth was seen in Bhopal with 40.3%, and the lowest was recorded in Hyderabad with 0.5%.
