Look forward to strengthening ties: PM Modi congratulates new Belgian PM

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated new Belgium Prime Minister Bart De Wever, and said he looks forward to working together to further strengthen the bilateral ties.

In a post on X, the PM said:

“Heartiest congratulations to Prime Minister @Bart_DeWever on assuming office. I look forward to working together to further strengthen India-Belgium ties and enhance our collaboration on global matters. Wishing you a successful tenure ahead.”

Flemish nationalist Bart De Wever and his Cabinet were sworn in on Monday 240 days after the Belgian elections.

The leader of the New Flemish Alliance (N-VA) and former mayor of Antwerp, Wever took the oath of office in the Royal Palace of Brussels in French, Dutch and German, the country’s three official languages.

De Wever is the first nationalist from Dutch-speaking Flanders to be named Belgian premier.
