New Delhi: Many schools in Delhi and the National Capital Region received bomb threats via email on Wednesday morning. Most schools have been evacuated and search operations are underway.

According to the Delhi Police, Delhi Public School’s (DPS) Dwarka and Vasant Kunj units, Mother Mary School in East Mayur Vihar, Sanskriti School in Chanakyapuri, Amity School in Pushp Vihar, and DAV School in South West Delhi are among initial 11 schools that have received the bomb threats. DPS Noida has also received a similar bomb threat.

Immediately after receiving information about the threats, the police took action and evacuated all the schools. The schools have been closed, and the students were sent back home, a Delhi Police officer said. The deputy commissioners police of Southwest Delhi and Dwarka told the media that the threat mails were sent around 4.30 am.

The schools informed parents around 6.30 am, when either their wards were getting ready or had left for schools.

“Checking is underway at all the schools, and our technical wing is investigating the email,” the police added.

“Bomb detection teams, bomb disposal squads, and Delhi Fire Service officials have been sent to the schools, along with K9 teams and a search operation is underway,” the police said.

“Multiple schools have received similar bomb threat emails. We are checking every school and are in contact with the school administration,” the police added.

Delhi Education Minister Atishi posted on X from her official handle (@AtishiAAP) and said: “Some schools have received bomb threats today morning. Students have been evacuated and those premises are being searched by Delhi Police. So far nothing has been found in any of the schools.

“We are in constant touch with the Police and the schools. Would request parents and citizens not to panic. School authorities will be in touch with parents wherever needed.”
