PM Modi concludes Papua New Guinea visit, leaves for last stop Sydney

New Delhi/Port Moresby: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday left for Sydney, Australia, after concluding his first-ever visit to Papua New Guinea where he co-chaired the Third FIPIC Summit and met the leaders of the 14 Pacific Island nations as well as New Zealand.

PM Modi in a tweet said that his Papua New Guinea visit was a historic one and he will greatly cherish the affection received from the people there. He thanked PM James Marape for the warm welcome.

“My Papua New Guinea visit has been a historic one. I will greatly cherish the affection received among the people of this wonderful nation. I also had the opportunity to interact with respected FIPIC leaders and discuss ways to deepen ties with their respective nations.

“I thank PM James Marape for the warm welcome accorded. Now leaving for Australia to take part in various programmes in Sydney.”

MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi in a tweet said:

“PM @narendramodi concludes a day-long highly impactful first-ever visit to Papua New Guinea.

“Reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthen partnership with Pacific Island friends.

“Next destination Sydney.”

Sydney, Australia, is the third and final leg of his three-nation visit. PM Modi had also visited Hiroshima in Japan for the G7 Summit and Quad Leaders’ Summit.
