Dharamshala (HP): Hectic preparations are underway at the Central University Himachal Pradesh here, ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s visit. She is scheduled to attend its 7th convocation as chief guest on May 6.

As many as 709 degrees would be conferred during the event, which is to be held at the Dharamshala Degree College auditorium.

On Wednesday, Vice Chancellor Acharya Sat Prakash Bansal inspected the convocation venue and instructed university officials to ensure all necessary arrangements for the successful execution of the event.

University Registrar Prof. Suman Sharma, Dean Academic Prof. Pardeep Kumar, Dean Student Welfare Prof. Sunil Thakur, Controller of Examinations Prof. A.K. Mahajan and other teachers and officials accompanied him.

This is only the third time that a President is visiting the University for the convocation as a chief guest.

In 2014 and 2022, former President Pranab Mukherjee and former President Ram Nath Kovind attended the convocation as chief guests respectively.

CUHP spokesperson Pooja Awasthi told UNI that the visits of such dignitaries bore testimony to the fact that the university was successfully carrying out its academic journey by imbibing true Indian traditional values in a major way with its good research and innovative approach.

She also informed that the President honour the PhD, M.Phil, Gold Medal, Graduate, Postgraduate students and research scholars from various streams.

The Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla, will also be present as a special guest on the occasion.
