Mumbai:  Mumbai Indians’ star batsman Suryakumar Yadav has added another feather to his cap, becoming the fifth Indian to surpass 8,000 runs in T20 cricket.

The 33-year-old, known for his 360-degree stroke play, achieved this milestone in his unbeaten nine-ball 27 in the 12th match of the IPL 2025 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede here on Monday. He now joins an elite list topped by Virat Kohli (12,976), followed by Rohit Sharma (11,851), Shikhar Dhawan (9,797), and Suresh Raina (8,654).

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians have further solidified their dominance over Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. Their recent triumph marked their 24th win over KKR, the most by any team against a single opponent in the tournament’s history.

In addition, MI’s stronghold at the Wankhede Stadium continues, as they now boast 10 wins over KKR at the venue—the highest number of victories by a team against a single opponent at a particular ground. Other dominant records include KKR’s nine wins over Punjab Kings at Eden Gardens and MI’s eight victories over RCB at both Wankhede and Bengaluru.

As the IPL season unfolds, MI’s rich history and Suryakumar’s individual brilliance continue to shine on the grand stage.
