Washington: General Dynamics Electric Boat Corporation has received a $53 million US Navy modification contract to provide material for the construction of the nuclear‑powered Virginia class attack submarine SSN 812. The Defense Department announced the award on Thursday.
“General Dynamics Electric Boat Corporation [of] Groton, Connecticut is awarded a $53,562,109 … modification contract for Long Lead Time Material associated with the Virginia Class Submarine SSN 812,” the Defense Department said in a press release on Thursday.
Work on the contract will be performed in at least 15 locations across the United States, the release said.
The work is projected to take almost a decade and is scheduled to be completed by September 2033, the release added.
