As far as tech-startups are concerned, India continues to be the third largest ecosystem of the world after the USA and China. Currently, there are 25-27 thousand active tech-startups in the country, out of which more than 1300 have joined the list during the last year only. This has been revealed through a report issued by Indian IT company organization, NASSCOM, and global management consultancy firm, Zinnov.

As per this report issued on Wednesday, in the last year, India was at the second spot all over the globe in adding unicorns. In 2022, the country added 23 unicorn startups. Unicorns are startups which have a value of or more than 1 billion dollars (around 8300 crore Rupees). Last year, the number of startups which had the chances of turning into unicorns was more than 170, and this number is almost equal to the number before the pandemic. Despite adverse conditions during 2022, with the total funding dropping by 24%, it remained at 1.51 lakh crore rupees, which is 38.9% more than the pre-COVID number of 1.09 lakh crores.

According to the report, around 1400 unicorn startups received fundings during the last year, which is 18% more than 2021.
