Superman leads N. American box office

Los Angeles: Warner Bros. and DC Studios’ Superman easily stayed atop the North American box office chart with an estimated 57.25 million U.S. dollars on its second weekend, according to Sunday figures from Comscore.

The newly rebooted superhero film has grossed 235 million dollars in North America for a global cume of 406.8 million dollars through Sunday.

Directed by James Gunn, the film, based on the iconic DC Comics character, stars David Corenswet in the dual role of Superman/Clark Kent.

Universal and Amblin’s sci-fi blockbuster Jurassic World Rebirth held strong in second place, earning 23.4 million dollars in its third weekend. The dinosaur film has amassed 276.2 million dollars in North America and 647.95 million dollars globally.

A newcomer, Sony’s slasher film I Know What You Did Last Summer, landed in third place with 13 million dollars this weekend.
