In the USA, 60%, that is more than 20 crore people are in the grip of bone-chilling severe cold, which is a result of the snow bomb cyclone. Such a situation arises only once in a decade. Currently, this cyclone is in Buffalo, where such circumstances can be seen after 1977. Till Sunday evening, Buffalo saw 5 feet of snowfall. New York Governor Cathy has said that all the fire engines of Buffalo city are stuck, because of which relief is not being able to reach the people. The airport has been shut down till Monday.

The situation is such that even the emergency response teams are not able to work. Problems have increased further with a power outage in around 17 lakh homes. 28 people have lost their lives due to accidents which took place due to the snow and severe cold. The emergency services have collapsed due to the storm.

Worst of the problems are being faced by the people who went out to celebrate Christmas holidays. In the last 48 hours, around 8000 flights have been cancelled, out of which 2700 flights were cancelled in 24 hours only. According to flight tracking facility Flight Aware, 6400 flights were late on Sunday. 2 lakh people are stuck on snow-filled roads in the USA and Canada. The situation is highly perilous in the areas nearby the Canada border. The temperature has fallen to -45 degree Celsius in many regions, and in most of the areas, the temperature is 10 degrees Celsius less than normal.
