Even though artificial sweeteners have less calories than sugar and is much sweeter, their prolonged use can affect one’s health adversely, especially children’s health. In a recent study conducted by USC Dornsife, it has been revealed that the use of artificial sweeteners can pose the danger of weakening of memory in children, and other mental differences can also be spotted. If one starts taking artificial sweeteners more during their teenage, its effects can be seen by the time they turn into an adult.

Researchers have found that artificial sweeteners also directly affect the digestive system, which also increases the threat of diabetes. Chief Researcher Professor Lindsay Sheer, to determine the results, conducted an experiment on rats, which involved the mixing of artificial sweetener and giving them to the rats. Some rats were given normal water. Then, as the rats grew up, certain tests on them were conducted. The tests revealed that the rats who had sweeteners regularly, lost their way, their memory was weak, and they forgot things easily. It was also found out that the glucose, in those rats, was flowing in a different way in their blood and reached their intestines.

It has been advised by experts that children should not use artificial sweeteners regularly from a young age, and it is important to avoid it as much as possible.
