China follows new policy to increase population, IVF to be used

China’s Jilin province has given the freedom to unmarried women to give birth through in-vitro fertilization or IVF. In Hebei province, some women have been appointed to pursue other women to give birth to more children. ‘Operation Bed Warming’ is to begin in one district of the Hunan province, under which, girls will not be allowed to move to bigger cities for studies or earning a living, and they would have to get married to local boys only.

The supporters of this policy say that marriage is not a concept involving individual independence, but the responsibility of the future generation for the development of the society. The two-child policy is in force at the national level in the country since 2015. After which in 2021, a three-child policy was initiated in China. The country is using all means to make youth return to the old population. But the new generation is not ready to birth more children. For this, various cities, districts and provinces of the country are forming new rules and regulations of many types and are also giving facilities.

The Gansu province has announced the allocation of around 1.20 lakh rupees till three years after the birth of a third child, along with this, half of this, that is around 60 thousand rupees will be given on the birth of the second child. Some cities of China have arranged for free government creches, while some have formed the law of providing a 15% relief on house rents for families with three children.

On the other hand, expert opinion suggests that no matter what China does, it cannot stop the dwindling birth-rates, as people are more educated than earlier times and urban population has increased. As a result, women are not interested in giving birth to more children. A similar situation is prevalent in South Korea and Japan as well, and these countries too, did not get success in increasing their populations.
