In a shocking and unfortunate development related with the so-called farmers’ protest, a CID officer of the Haryana police named Satendra Pal was held hostage by the protestors in Jind, Haryana, at the Datta Singhwala Border, on Wednesday, February 14. It was alleged by the protestors that Pal was ‘spying’ on them, and based on this suspicion of theirs, they held Satendra captive.

It was also alleged by the protestors that the CID officer was clicking pictures of the protest site and sending the same to senior officials. Farmer leader Baldev Sirsa said that Pal is an officer of Haryana police, and that his phone was seized by the protestors as well. Sirsa also claimed that when Pal’s phone was checked, it was found out that he had been receiving calls from senior officials every other minute. The farmer leader added that the phone also had an audio clip, in which Pal could be heard sharing information of the protest site to other officers.

Following this, the protestors handed over Pal and his phone to Punjab police.
