Washington: Former President Donald Trump attended the wake of fallen NYPD officer Jonathan Diller on Thursday and called for a return to ‘law and order’ before claiming that the current justice system ‘isn’t working’.

“We have to stop it. We have to get back to law and order. We have to do a lot of things differently. Because this is not working. This is happening too often,” said Trump at Diller’s wake, which was held on Long Island.

The former president added that there needed to be tougher measures in place to prevent such deaths from happening as often.

Diller, who was 31, was shot and killed on Monday during a routine traffic stop in Queens, a borough of New York City.

Trump’s remarks come on the same day that President Joe Biden is also in New York for a campaign event featuring former President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton. The campaign event is expected to be star-studded and hopes to raise over $25 million. Trump’s next campaign event is next week in Palm Beach, Florida, and is expected to raise over $33 million.
