Kolkata” West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said the state government would move Supreme Court to challenge Calcutta High Court ruling cancelling the 2016 WBSSC recruitment panel resulting in the loss of jobs of over 25,000 teaching and non-teaching staff in the government and its aided schools the state.

” The order is illegal and we will challenge it in the Supreme court, ”

Banerjee said whilst addressing an election campaign at Chakulia in East Singhbhum, hours after the Division Bench gave its verdict.

The court also ordered a CBI to probe into the details of the appointment process and report to this court within three months.

Banerjee also alleged that BJP leaders were “influencing judiciary and judgments and political judgement” at the instruction of the Central government.

She said, ” Do not worry. There are more than one lakh jobs vacant with the government. ”
She also questioned the court order of returning the salary of the teachers and asked, ” Is it possible for anyone? ”

Former Calcutta High Court judge and now a BJP candidate from Tamluk Abhijit Gangopadhyaya has demanded immediate resignation of the chief minister for being the head of the TMC ministry.

BJP’s spokesman and Rajya Sabha member Samik Bhattacharya also demanded resignation of Banerjee, holding her responsible that the illegal appointments happened under the nose of the chief minister.
