On Saturday, June 29, a pujari was brutally stabbed multiple times in Haryana’s Faridabad, when he was sleeping near a Mandir, and not only this the pujari’s tongue was also chopped off by the Muslims who attacked him. After this horrific incident, Hindu activist, Bittu Bajrangi merely asked the people from the Hindu community, to reach the victim’s house and show their solidarity, for which an FIR has been filed against Bajrangi by the Haryana police.

In order to get into the details of the case, Sonakshi Datta of GoaChronicle had a word with Bittu Bajrangi, and he said, ‘As far as the victim, Ravi Pujari is concerned, his situation is critical. And coming to the demonstration held by other Hindus in this matter, I was not even in town when it took place.’

Bittu added that the alleged culprits involve 3-4 Muslims. On the other hand, the police say that investigation in the matter is going on, but no arrest has been made yet.

Divulging the details of the crime, Bajrangi further said, ‘In some areas in Faridabad, water-logging is common, and there is a Kali Mandir here, which is served by Ravi Pujari Ji. On the night of June 29, Pujari ji managed to remove some water and was then having rest sitting in a chair near his Mandir, and was playing with his daughter. After this, Pujari ji dozed off in the chair itself, and this was when the attackers came from behind.’

‘The first one to attack the victim was one Qureshi, and then his accomplices started stabbing the Pujari with knives and daggers. And when chaos ensued, the victim’s wife tried to protect her husband, and was injured amidst all of this. After being severely injured, Ravi Ji was taken to a local hospital, the Excort Hospital, and is currently admitted there.’, the Hindu activist stated.

While Ravi Pujari ji is now out of danger, is condition remains to be critical.

When asked about the FIR filed by the police on him, Bittu Bajrangi said, ‘The police work according to their own whims and fancies. But it is certain that I will continue to raise my voice for those who are wronged, no matter how many more cases are filed against me. Not only I but everybody should speak up in situations like these.’

Bittu mentioned how he merely asked people from the Hindu community to reach Ravi Pujari’s house after the incident, to show their solidarity and support, as he was not in Faridabad then. Bajrangi asked, ‘What wrong did I do in asking the people of our community to go and ask about how the victim’s family was doing?’

When Bittu was asked about the state’s BJP government’s attitude towards Hindus and crimes against the community, he went on, ‘All I have faced is torture by the government and the authorities, and I know this is not going to end, but this will not deter me, and I will continue to speak for those who face injustice, even if they hang me till death.’

‘All I can say is though the government has never supported me, the Hindu community has always had my back.’, affirmed Bajrangi.
