ENGIE plans to expand renewable portfolio to 7 GW by 2030

New Delhi: Low-carbon and energy solution global firm ENGIE on Monday said it has planned to expand its renewable portfolio in Indian operations to 7 GW by 2030, aligning with India’s “Net Zero Carbon” target by 2045.

The company has been present in India for past 30 years. This celebrate, ENGIE celebrates a decade of clean energy transformation with a 2.3 GW portfolio, 1.1 GW of which is operational in seven states, ENGIE said in a release adding the company aims to expand its renewable portfolio to 7 GW by 2030.

“Celebrating 10 years of renewable energy leadership in India is a proud milestone for ENGIE,” said Amit Jain, CEO and Country Manager, ENGIE. “This journey reflects our dedication to innovation, sustainability, and strategic partnerships with regional stakeholders. By leveraging advanced technologies and fostering community empowerment, we aim to accelerate India’s energy transition and contribute meaningfully to its net-zero goals. Our commitment goes beyond clean energy generation—it is about creating shared value for local communities and driving sustainable growth.”

ENGIE has delivered several high-impact renewable energy projects that set benchmarks in innovation and operational efficiency. The 200 MW Raghanesda Solar Plant in Gujarat and the 140 MW Bhadla Solar Plant in Rajasthan exemplify the integration of cutting-edge technologies such as dry robotic cleaning systems. Meanwhile, the Mirzapur Solar Power Plant 75 MW in Uttar Pradesh, jointly inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron, stands as a testament to India-France cooperation in the renewable energy sector.

ENGIE’s commitment extends beyond energy production to fostering socio-economic growth in the communities it serves. The company has trained over 600 Solar Module Technicians, ensuring a skilled workforce, and has sourced 80% of its workforce locally to create sustainable employment opportunities. ENGIE places community empowerment at the heart of its development strategy, embodying its broader vision for holistic progress.
