Patna: In a late-night development, district administration has asked Prashant Kishor, founder of “Jan Suraaj,” to shift his dharna from Gandhi Maidan to the Gardanibagh locality in Patna, saying it is illegal as the place is a prohibited area for such activities.

The administration made the announcement through loudspeakers and other public address systems to inform Kishor and others sitting on dharna at Gandhi Maidan. They were also served notice by the authorities.

Administrative officials pointed out that the Patna High Court had given a ruling seven years back to designate a place in the Gardanibagh locality for organising dharnas and protests. The ruling was aimed at saving people from unnecessary harassment and troubles in the busy locality of Patna due to such activities.

Authorities asked Kishor, popularly known as PK, and others to shift the dharna to a designated place in the Gardanibagh locality as soon as possible. They should organise a dharna in Gardanibagh only after taking due permission from the administration, authorities cautioned.

As it is, Kishor and others had begun a fast unto death dharna at Gandhi Maidan on Thursday demanding reconducting the Preliminary Test of BPSC earlier held on December 13. A large number of BPSC aspirants and “Jan Suraaj” leaders were also sitting on dharna in support of their demands.

The test conducted by BPSC on December 13 was marred by a series of irregularities, including a paper leak, they alleged.
