CBI arrests one official of Rail Wheel Factory in an alleged bribery case

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Principal Chief Engineer (PCE) of Rail Wheel Factory posted at Yelahanka, Bangalore in Karnataka in an alleged bribery case, the probe agency said on Friday.

A case was registered on the basis of a complaint against GK Jalan, Principal Chief Engineer, on the allegations of demanding gratification from the complainant (a civil contractor) who was awarded several contract works in the Rail Wheel Factory, CBI in a statement stated.

It is alleged that PCE demanded Rs1 lakh from the complainant for continuing the contracts work of various types of civil work inside Rail Wheel Factory. It is further alleged that the accused threatened the complainant to terminate the tenders awarded to him, the statement stated.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while allegedly accepting Rs75 thousands from the complainant, it added.

Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused which led to recovery of cash of Rs 1.41 lakh and incriminating documents.
