GoaChronicle team in its investigations into the questionable past of Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organisation has stumbled across a startling truth of the Former Foreign Minister of Ethiopia who was caught in a web of lies along with a 14-year old girl.

In 2015, Dr Tedros in a joint press conference with Ethiopian-Australian teenager claimed that she has won 20 million Australian dollars. The prize money was jointly funded by Australian government and Rotary Club of Australia. Beritu Jaleta Ahmed revealed that she had participated in a student competition held in her school in Melbourne.

At the press conference, Dr Tedros, public praised and endorsed the teenager as an ‘exemplary philanthropist’.

He further stated that the 14-year old girl is a unique role model among the Ethiopian diaspora for allocating such a large amount of money for development at such a young age. He pledged that the government of Ethiopia would provide all the necessary support for the completion of a modern school from nursery to secondary school levels.

Now here is what is interesting about this entire press conference and what web of lies current Director-General of the World Health Organisation spun with the 14-year old teenager.

Media in Ethiopia, in particular, Addis Voice investigated the claims of the girl and the then Foreign Minister Dr Tedros. Here are some of the shocking details they found:

Baden Powell College had no idea of the competition or the prize. This is the college in which the 14-year old girl studied and claimed to have taken part in a student competition. As a college, had an annual budget of 12 million dollars which was provided for by the Victoria Department of Education. However, the college refused to give any official statement at that time to media because the girl concerned was a minor.

The Baden Powell College referred the case to Victoria Police for investigation.

The Australia Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade refuted the claims of the girl that the Australia government gave her half the prize money.

In a written statement from Jenna Hand spokesperson of the Australia Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, to the reporter of Addis Voice, Abebe Gellaw, stated, “The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has not give 10 million dollars to fund a school in Gara Muleta, Ethiopia. “

Rotary Club of Australia too denied, it stated that, “There is no way any Rotary Club in Australia could pay that amount of money. We just don’t have that kind of money,” when Abbe Gellaw contacted Bruce Allen, manager of Rotary International Australia.

In fact when the news of the lies were exposed to the people of Ethiopia, many where disappointed that a Foreign Minister of their country could not even have the common sense to investigate the claims of the 14-year old before taking a press conference and publicly praising the teenager.

If a 14-year old could con the then foreign minister of Ethiopia, it would not be difficult for a nation like China to control the Director-General of the World Health Organisation, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

Over 1.9 million positive COVID-19 cases and over 123,000 deaths globally under the watchful eye of the Director-General of WHO, who did not counter check claims of a 14-year old before making a mockery of his position as foreign minister and people of Ethiopia.
