In a bid to resolve the concerns of the Christian community in Bihar, over examinations of students being held on the Christian festival of Good Friday on March 29, 2024, Goa BJP leader intervened into the matter after he was approached by the Christians in Bihar from the BJP, in order to find a solution.

In an official circular, it was notified by the Bihar Education Project Council, that the annual examinations of the students of standards I to IV and standards VI and VII, in all the government and government-aided elementary schools of Bihar, were to take place from March 21 to March 28, 2024. Additionally, it was informed that while the remaining schedule would be followed, only the examinations scheduled to take place on March 25 would be held on March 30, and more importantly, the examination to be held earlier on March 30 would be held on March 29, 2024.

This schedule of the examinations caused major concern among the followers of the Christian faith in Bihar as March 29 marks Good Friday. As a reason, the Christian leaders of the Bihar BJP approached Rodrigues and asked him for a solution.

Taking to Twitter, Rodrigues said, ‘Good Friday is the most solemn prayerful day of the Indian Christian community. It is my earnest appeal in all humility to Nitish Kumar to take this religious sensitivity into consideration, and resolve this concern with an alternate schedule.’

After the Goa BJP leader’s appeal to the Bihar Governor, Rajendra Arlekar, the concerns of the Christians of Bihar were quickly resolved, and thanking the Bihar Governor, Rodrigues said, ‘My sincere appreciation to the governor of Bihar for promptly acting on my request to urge the CM of Bihar to resolve the concern of the Christian community in the state, and to reschedule the exam to be held on Good Friday, March 29, 2024.’

‘I was approached by Christians in Bihar from the BJP to intervene on the concern and find a solution. I am glad that I could assist the community.’, added Rodrigues.
