J&K: Brief exchange of firing between SFs, terrorists in Kishtwar

Jammu: The security forces and a group of terrorists exchanged fire on Thursday that triggered a gunfight in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.

A brief exchange of firing took place between hiding terrorists and security forces during a search operation continuing in Chatroo area of Kishtwar on specific inputs about presence of armed terrorists in the remote forests, official sources said.

They said that the cordon is laid by the joint team of security forces.

The gunfight in this area raged on September 21 near the Danna Dhar forest area at Gurinal village of Chatroo.

“A fresh contact was established this morning with a brief exchange of firing,” official sources said.

On September 13, two soldiers were martyred and as many were injured in a gunfight in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district.

On September 20, terrorists fired upon the security forces in the Reasi district.
