Mumbai: The Chief Electoral Office in Maharashtra on Sunday refused to give sanction to Ajit Pawar led Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) new TV advertisement, ‘Aata Ghadyalache Batan Dabnar, Sarvanna Sangnar’, made for the Maharashtra Assembly elections.

NCP had applied for pre-certification of its TV advertisement for the election campaign before the State Level Certification Committee as per the guidelines of Election Commission of India.

However, the State CEO has objected to some of the references made in the advertisements like in the video, a wife humorously tells her husband, “Now you will do the same – vote for NCP, or else I won’t feed you tonight.”

The poll body highlighted that one cannot deny food to anyone for not voting for a particular party.

The poll body has also seen the conversation in the advertisement as “a threat by wife to husband” and asked the party to cut that portion out to get the green signal for broadcasting the advertisement.
