On Thursday, July 13, at around 1 PM, a massive fire erupted in Greater Noida West’s Galaxy Plaza, throwing the area into chaos.
People panicked, running helter‑skelter, and many jumped from the third floor to escape, resulting in several injuries. Officials say a short circuit sparked the blaze.
Many people were also seen hanging from windows of the fifth floor, and after receiving the information of the fire, a fire team reached the spot immediately, to control the fire. In all, five people have been injured and three out of them are serious, who were admitted to a hospital nearby by the police and the locals.
DCP Anil Kumar Yadav said, ‘When the police arrived at the location, it was seen that a lot of people were stuck. And the scared people broke the glass window on the third floor and tried to escape, but as the height was too much, they could not jump and remained hanging on the window. That was when the locals came rushing and placed mattresses on the ground below, so that if someone falls or jumps, severe injuries could be averted.’
