Nippani (Karnataka): Karnataka Congress Working President Satish Jarkiholi has stirred a hornet’s nest by making controversial remarks by saying the meaning of the word ‘Hindu’ is very vulgar.

“Hindu is not an Indian word, but Persian. Then, how can you accept it? This should be debated. You can check WhatsApp and Wikipedia, you will get to know (from where the word comes from).

“Why this word has been imposed on us. The meaning of the word ‘Hindu’ is a very vulgar word. You will be ashamed if you know its meaning,” he said addressing an event organised by Manav Bandhutva Vedike here on Sunday.

The video pertaining to the controversy has gone viral on social media and Jarkiholi has come under attack by rival parties.
