In Bihar’s Darbhanga, a couple left their new-born at a private hospital because of being unable to pay the bill. This family belongs in the Chhatapur village of Madhubani district, and had brought the new-born for treatment to Darbhanga, and the baby wad admitted in a private hospital, in the meanwhile, the family paid 70 thousand rupees to the hospital. With the new-born treated, the hospital handed the parents a bill of 1.75 lakh rupees and asked them to take their baby with them. The poor parents did not have the amount of money to be paid.

When the hospital administration got to know that the girl child was left in the hospital by her parents, they informed about the same to the President of the Child Welfare Department, Virendra Kumar Jha. Jha then contacted the child lines of Madhubani and Darbhanga districts. After this, contact was established with the concerned family and they were asked to reach Darbhanga. With the initiative of the Child Welfare Department, the hospital bill was waived off. This incident took place on 26th December.

The child required further treatment for a few days at this juncture, so she was admitted to the pediatrics department of the government Darbhanga Medical Hospital.
