Plane with 23 aboard crashes at airport in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: A domestic plane carrying 23 people crashed on Wednesday at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital, an official said.

A witness said the plane nosedived into the ground, and an explosion could be heard inside the airport.

The plane belonged to Nepal’s Saurya Airlines, an airport spokesperson told Xinhua.

Twenty-three people, including crew members, were on board the plane, Hansa Raj Pandey, spokesman at the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, told Xinhua.

Media reports said at least five people were killed in the accident.
