It is widely believed that for a better health, it is beneficial for senior citizens to walk and get involved in aerobics, which help reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. But a recent study has now shown that playing golf is even more beneficial for senior citizens as compared to walking and other aerobics. In this study conducted by BMG Open Sport and Exercise Medicine, the effect of aerobic exercise on senior citizens. This research found out that playing golf, walking, and Nordic-walking were all better exercises for senior citizens.
Finland’s researchers compared the effects of all these three different aerobic exercises, on the basis of intensity, time, and calorie burnout. This study was conducted on golf players aged above 65 years, and the impacts of all the three activities were seen on these players. For this, the blood samples of all the players were collected, along with conducting blood-sugar level tests and blood pressure tests. Along with this, in order to record the changes in their bodies during the exercises, many types of machines were placed.
The results proved that all the three exercises helped to improve the cardio-health of the players, and improved their health and blood pressure. It was also found out that as a result of playing golf, lipid health and glucose metabolism got improved as well, and playing golf led to higher positive impacts.
