Prepared to ensure peaceful polls, Amarnath Yatra in J&K : IG CRPF

Srinagar: Inspector General, Operations, Kashmir CRPF M S Bhatia on Tuesday said the security preparations for this year Amarnath Yatra and elections, if held, have started.

The Amarnath yatra usually starts in June or July from the twin routes of Nunwan-Pahalgam in Anantnag district and Baltal in Ganderbal district.

“We have started preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra and elections, if held”, Bhatia told reporters on the sidelines of inauguration of a unit hospital in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district Tuesday.

He said whether it is elections or yatra, forces remain fully alert all the time to maintain law and order and try to ensure the event is held peacefully.

IG operations CRPF, said they always remain prepared for any event, be it elections or Amarnath Yatra.

“We always ensure these events are conducted peacefully,” he said.

He said the CRPF unit hospital has been opened under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awaas Yojana (PMGAY) scheme and will also be put through for the public also.

IGP Bhatia said all the hospitals of forces will be put open for the common man also to enable them to get treated in the best way.
