The Koo versus Twitter battle is akin to the historic “rumble in the jungle “between the charismatic Mohammad Ali and the hardworking George foreman and we all know the result of that iconic boxing event held at Zaire many, many, many summers ago.
Koo is India in spirit, body, mind and letter whilst Twitter has become a victim of its own doing. We are living in a world where everyone is controlled by a social media application in some form and that’s where Twitter came in and tried to control an India which was raring to go. India has a method to its madness and emotions play an omnipresent role here and one can understand the emotions of India, well then you are a winner all the way.
Koo calls itself the voice of India which has touched a raw nerve in most of the right thinking billion plus Indians in India and across the world. The success of an app like Koo in the last six months just goes to show that This India is not subservient, doesn’t hesitate to pull its punches like the incorrigible Boxer Mohammad Ali and doesn’t take things lying down.
Twitter needs to get more skin in this game with Koo, which Twitter is losing by the minute because of the way it treats its Indian users and disrespecting the laws of diverse and democratic India. India is Atmanirbhar to the core, having a restless soul of its own which is enjoying the journey more than the destination.
This is a wakeup call to all social media applications that India can shine on its own and does not need to bask in someone else’s shadow and post COVID-19. The new world order sees a change with India leading from the front and change is the only constant in life.
