Kolkata: West Bengal ruling the Trinamool Congress’ electoral juggernaut continued to reign for the past two decades in the state as all four TMC candidates are on the verge of winning, as one of them has already won from Raiganj in North Dinajpur as the results emerged on Saturday for July 10 bypoll, official sources said.

TMC Raiganj nominee Krishna Kalyani won by 49,536 votes over his nearest BJP rival Manas Kumar Ghosh at the end of the counting.

The TMC wrested the seat, which was won by the BJP in 2021 for which Kalyani was then a saffron candidate and then switched over to the ruling party.

TMC candidate Madhuparna Thakur from Bagdah seat ( North 24 Parganas) won over her nearest rival Binoy Kumar Biswas, who conceded defeat at end of 10th round and left the counting centre. Thakur won by over 30,000 votes. The TMC wrested the seat from the BJP.

TMC’s Supti Pande from Maniktala ( central Kolkata) and Mukutmani Adhikari from Ranaghat (South) were also leading over their nearest BJP rivals Kalyan Chowbey and Monoj Kumar Biswas respectively. The TMC candidates were ahead by a huge margin.

The Mamata Banerjee led TMC has been maintaining its winning streak since 2009.
