London: During mass riots caused by protests against the influx of undocumented migrants, protesters tried to set fire to the building of another hotel, which is believed to be housing migrants, the media reported.

Earlier on Sunday, the Guardian reported that protesters had attacked the building of the Holiday Inn Express in the English city of Rotherham, where migrants are believed to be accommodated.

Rioters set fire to the doorway, smashed windows, and threw objects at the police, the Daily Mail reported.

According to the publication, hundreds of protesters gathered outside the Inn Express in Tamworth, and a group of protesters threw a burning object towards the entrance to the hotel where people were staying. According to the publication, one police officer was injured during the riot.

On Saturday, local media reported the start of protests involving hundreds of people in several cities in the UK, including Manchester, Leeds, Belfast, and other cities.

Protests against the influx of illegal migrants started in several cities across the UK following a stabbing attack in Southport, England, in which three children were killed. The media reported that at least 35 protests were expected over the weekend.

On July 29, three young girls died and several were seriously injured after a knife attack on a children’s dance club in Southport. This sparked mass protests and clashes with police amid unconfirmed reports that the knifeman was a refugee.

UK law enforcement agencies accused the far-right English Defence League (EDL) of fuelling the protests, while some of the country’s media reported that Russia had been behind the riots. The Russian embassy in London strongly rejected those allegations.
