Washington: Washington has sent a proposed list of priority reforms to Kiev to support the country and help it integrate into the European Union, the US Embassy in Ukraine said on Tuesday.
“As part of an ongoing dialogue with Ukraine and stakeholders in Ukraine’s future success, the United States provided a proposed list of priority reforms for discussion and feedback at the Multi-Donor Coordination Platform in Brussels. This list was provided as a basis for consultation with the Government of Ukraine and key partners as part of our enduring support to Ukraine and its efforts to integrate into Europe, a goal the United States strongly supports,” the statement read.
The US is committed to helping Ukraine recover and supporting reforms aimed at creating an environment where business can develop and attract US and European investors, the embassy added, citing US President Joe Biden.
Ukraine applied for EU membership on February 28, 2022, shortly after Russia launched its military operation. It was followed by Georgia and Moldova, which decided to fast-track submission of their applications. During the EU delegation’s visit to Kiev on April 8, 2022, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen handed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy a questionnaire to begin Ukraine’s accession process. She emphasized that this questionnaire would lay the groundwork for further discussion on the country’s membership in the future.
