Goa CM Dr Pramod Sawant began the new week in style earlier on in the day. To commemorate India’s Iron Man Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel’s birth anniversary, he participated in the Run for Unity. It is prudent to note that India celebrates Iron Man’s birth anniversary as Rashtriya Ekta Divas in the fond memory of Sardar Patel.

He followed it up by inaugurating “Vigilance Awareness Week” organised by Directorate of Vigilance at Alto Panaji. The theme of Vigilance Awareness Week is “Corruption Free India for a Developed Nation” in sync with PM Modi’s vision, “I will neither take nor allow others to take.”

CM Dr Pramod Sawant stressed upon the importance of corruption free India – a prerequisite for the development of our nation. He gave a clarion call for “Corruption free Goem for a developed Goem”.

In a bid to root out corruption form Goa, he urged people to file their complaints with Public Grievances Cell. Ever since the launch of this grievances cell, it has received as many as 306 complaints. And, a whopping seventy percent of them have got successful closure. In other words, Public Grievances Cell has taken up complaints seriously and worked towards solutions to win people’s trust.

CM Dr Pramod Sawant also sent out a loud and clear message to the erring officials. His tenure has already seen the suspension of around eight officials. On a personal level, it is a tough call for CM to suspend anybody. However, such strict measure are needed to ensure that there is no compromise when it comes to discipline and action against corrupt practices.

At present there are twelve major complaints pending with the vigilance and anti-corruption bureau. Commenting upon the cases of land grabbing that came to light recently, Dr Pramod Sawant minced no words in stating that had Goa police not treat those complaints lightly, his government would not have formed Special Investigation Team (SIT) to carry out investigation into the complaints of the land grabbing cases that date back as far back as fifteen years.

CM Dr Pramod Sawant cracked a whip on slow Babus as well by stating, “An officer is honest. He does not indulge in corruption. At the same time, he delays in acting on pending files. This inexplicable delay causes losses to the state. Even this type of lethargic behaviour is unacceptable.”

On the occasion of Nation Unity Day, Goa CM Dr Pramod Sawant not only inaugurated Vigilance Awareness Week but also gave his piece of mind to those who matter by hinting that meritocracy is what he expects from government officials with a view to making Goem corruption free and developed.

The message from CM is loud and clear. “Perform and make Goem corruption free.” People are given power to file complaints against uncooperative officers. They can do so both online and offline. Dr Pramod Sawant ‘s prescription for a corruption free Goem is simple. His diagnosis is spot on. A new dawn for Goa seems imminent. Over to anti-corruption bureau now.
