Ceasefire has been continuing on the LOC for the last two years now, and the administration has used this time period to strengthen the security of the citizens, for which, more than 13 thousand shelling-proof bunkers have been developed in areas near the LOC in Poonch district. These bunkers could be used during Pakistani shelling. Earlier, because of constant shelling at the hands of Pakistan, the development of these bunkers was slow, but the work was expedited after the ceasefire.

Poonch is one of the most affected by shelling, and an officer has stated that the permission to develop 15 thousand bunkers has been given, and most of the bunkers are now ready, and remaining will be developed soon. The bunkers will be able to face any shelling attempts on Pakistan’s part. There are two types of bunkers here, as there are family bunkers for families, and the other is a bigger community bunker type, wherein many families can take shelter together in case of a shelling attack.

The capacity of each community bunker is 40-50 people, while that of the family bunkers is 8-10 people.
