77% parents in USA want schools to focus on character-development

Most of the parents of students want that their children learn some things more than science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, which help in the development of their characters. In a poll conducted on 2000 parents in the USA, 77% of them said that during the initial phase of education, the children should also receive character-development education, along with mainstream studies.

77% of them believe that it is important for the children to learn about not only stem education, but, also relationships and socialization. Along with this, 75% of the parents are of the opinion that the children should understand the importance of the help provided to them by others. Parents want that at school, their children should learn responsibility, helping others, truthfulness, and about following rules. Apart from this, 2 out of every 3 parents stated that such character-development should have also been taught to them when they were students themselves.

75% of the parents, for their children’s initial education, chose an institution which focuses on the students’ character development as well. Most of the parents believed that if such an education is received by their children from the very beginning, the world will become a better place to live in, and hence, the attempts should begin at the school only. 61% of the parents said that when they saw their own kids consoling other children, sharing their toys with them, or initiating a conversation with them, they thought that the children’s characters are developing correctly.

3/4th parents involved in the poll stated that many a times, great learning opportunities surface for the children outside the classroom. 52% of the parents believe that their children are ready for social service, and most of them said that they would like to accompany their children in the same.
