On the one hand, while Japan is coming up with various measures to make its people move from cities to villages to reduce its urban population, on the other, in the southern most province of Japan, Okinawa, the limit of tourists entering has been set. Okinawa’s Galapagos Island is renowned across the globe for its natural beauty and its special specie of wild cats. This is a World Heritage Site. As a result, this place attracts lakhs of tourists every year. Therefore, native residents are now facing water-related problems here.

Apart from this, the threat of tourists getting attacked by wild cats remains high. In the wake of this situation, the local administration has set a limit on the number of tourists visiting this place. Now, merely 1200 people will be able to come here every day, which means that during a year, only 3 lakh 30 thousand tourists will be permitted. Special guides have also been issued to promote global tourism. Back in 2019, around 3 lakh tourists had visited Galapagos. And since 2008, the population of wild cats is reducing continuously.
