India condemns China’s remarks over PM Modi’s recent visit to Arunachal

New Delhi: India on Tuesday rejected China’s remarks over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh, saying Beijing’s objections to the country’s developmental projects “do not stand to reason” and reaffirmed that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India.

An official statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs stated: “We reject the comments made by the Chinese side regarding the visit of the Prime Minister to Arunachal Pradesh. Indian leaders visit Arunachal Pradesh from time to time, as they visit other states of India.”

“Objecting to such visits or India’s developmental projects does not stand to reason,” the statement read.

“Further, it will not change the reality that the State of Arunachal Pradesh was, is, and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India,” the ministry added.

The MEA was responding to objections raised by a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson over PM Modi’s March 9 visit to the North Eastern state, where he inaugurated a number of development projects, including the Sela Tunnel, an all-weather strategic link between Tawang and Kameng districts near the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
