Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to constitute a committee under the chairmanship of State Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari to address the issues concerning the Kotia group of villages in Koraput district.

The decision was made during a meeting held on Thursday night, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

The meeting was convened to give focused attention to the Kotia Gram Panchayat, located in Pottangi block, and formulate an administrative mechanism aimed at resolving the challenges faced by the local population.

Under this new mechanism, various departments currently delivering services independently will be brought together under a unified structure.

All schemes implemented in the region will be coordinated through a single agency, led by a special officer from the OAS/ORS cadre.

This agency will operate from an independent office, ensuring the holistic development of the Kotia Gram Panchayat and working toward sustainable, long-term solutions.

The meeting also emphasized the importance of promoting and strengthening Odia language, culture, literature, traditions, and festivals in the bordering areas to foster a sense of belonging under the initiative ‘Odia Asmita’.

After careful consideration, the government has resolved to establish a committee tasked with defining the structure of the special agency.

The committee will determine the hierarchical framework, funding model, convergence of various schemes, and conduct a comparative analysis of similar schemes implemented by the bordering state to ensure integrated development of the Kotia Gram Panchayat.

The committee will submit its recommendations to the Chief Minister for further action.
