Dharwad: The BJP on Tuesday alleged that the opposition against Pralhad Joshi’s candidacy for Dharwad Lok Sabha seat is being fueled by the Congress party.

They claim that the Congress is behind the objections raised by the Dingaleshwara mutt seer.

The Dingaleshwara mutt seer has accused Joshi of neglecting various communities, including the Lingayats, which hold significance in the region’s politics.

BJP leaders argued that the Lingayat community supports Joshi and suggested that the sudden opposition is a political move by the Congress out of fear of losing Lok Sabha election.

Despite initial opposition, some seers have retracted their objections and expressed support for Joshi. Former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has intervened in the matter, urging the Dingaleshwara seer to avoid escalating the situation.

A close aide of the Dingaleshwara seer denies any political motives behind their opposition. The aide claimed that the seer’s stance is driven by a concern for injustices faced by other communities, rather than any political affiliations or personal animosities.
