COVID-19: India records a northward surge of 28,637 cases in one day

New Delhi: The northward climb of positive COVID-19 cases in India continues. India recorded a steep spike of 28,637 covid infections in the past 24 hours taking the total number of confirmed cases across country to 8,49,553 on Sunday.

According to the Health ministry, fatalities due to the pandemic also surged to 22674, after 551 more people lost their lives due to the pandemic since Saturday.

However, with improving recovery rate, the cured and discharged cases pan India stood at 534621. At present, 292258 patients were being treated throughout the country, the update said.
