Mumbai: Leader of opposition state legislative council Ambadas Danve on Thursday, the increasing number of missing girls in the state is a matter of concern and targeted the state government by criticizing the law-and-order situation in the state.

In his statement Mr Danve said that the state of Maharashtra is a state that runs on the progressive ideology of Shahu-Phule-Ambedkar, and it has been proved by the state government’s governance in the past several years.

He further stated that , an average of 70 girls are going missing in Maharashtra every day. While from January to March 2023, about 5510 girls have gone missing from the state. 1600 girls have gone missing in the month of January 2023, 1810 in the month of February and 2200 in the month of March.

The number of girls and women who go missing is increasing day by day which is worrying for a progressive state like Maharashtra, he said.

Maharashtra is considered as a leading state for women’s safety.

He expressed his reaction that if girls and women are not safe in such a state, the matter is worrying for the state.

Mr Danve has suggested in a written letter to the Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the Minister of Women and Child Development that appropriate steps should be taken in this matter and necessary measures should be taken immediately for the safety of women, added Mr Danve.
